The Pick of Past Appearances - Pre 2015

11th July 2014  - Cocktail Party at Worcester Museum and Art Gallery

"Just to say a big thank you to the Worcester Ukulele Club for playing last night, it really made the night, created a great atmosphere and I know the performance went down a treat with the other visitors and the museum! We did say thanks to a few folk from the club we were chatting to at the end. Jo"

Hanley Swan Village Hall
Sun 11th May 2014

For the 3rd year running we entertained for Worcestershire Community Action group, who held their annual afternoon tea party, with lots of audience eating lots of lovely cake!

Who can spot the thing which is not quite right with the picture?

Worcester High Street April 2014 (this item posted in July 2017!)

It's now July 2017 and the club has well over 100 members... whilst doing a gig at the Hive recently, Pat F (a loyal fan it appears!), kindly handed in a CD of us playing in Worcester High Street taken in April 2014!!! ohhh... don't we look young!! ahhhh those were the days :-)
Picture
Worcester Victorian Market
29/30 Nov and 1 Dec

We were banned (in the nicest possible way) from last years venue in Marks and Spencers yard as apparently our audience blocked the street, which upset the police and the local traders. This year we did 3 sets outside Huntingdon Hall and had a record turn out .

Picture
5th October 2013 - Malvern

Playing inside our space capsule tent as part of the Malvern in Autumn Festival.

If the promotional material is to be believed we were booked to "add charm" to the event - that'll be a first!

Picture
14th September 2013 - Inkberrow FestivAle

With most of the gig regulars 'gigged out' from August, it was time for some new faces to fly the Worcester Ukulele Club flag.

A pleasant evening - the ale was good too!

Picture
31st August 2013 - Lamb and Flag, Worcester

Second Worcester Music Festival set of the day, a trip back to see Garry (in his ukulele emblazoned shirt) at the Lamb and Flag.

A packed house - and that was just uke players!

As always, one of the best nights of the year.

Picture
31st August 2013 - Rise Music, Worcester

At our first appearance of the day as part of the events organised by Worcester Music Festival

Picture
25th August 2013 - The Bell Inn, Worcester. Bank Holiday Beer Festival.

An enjoyable afternoon entertaining the crowds while they (and us) sampled the various beers on offer

Picture
18th August 2013 - Worcester Flower Show.

A fantastic afternoon in Gheluvelt Park with the sun shining, ukes playing and a very large and appreciative audience.

Picture
20th July 2013 - Leamington Spa Ukulele Festival

A massed gathering of uke players and bands at the Newbold Comyn Arms in which we played a small (but vitally important) part.

We're hoping that this one is repeated next year as it was great - not sure if the bride who had booked the same venue for her wedding reception thought the same - mind you, 20 free bands for entertainment, what more could a girl want

Picture
14th July 2013 - Church Lench, FRAME.

Apprearance as part of the Festival of Rural Art, Music and Entertainment.

Complete with a rare appearance by 2 kazoo players

Picture
30th June 2013 - Hanley Swan

A repeat performance for Community Action for their annual tea party

Three Counties Show
15th and 16th June 2013 - Royal Three Counties Show, Malvern.

6 sets over three days, obviously having fun and we've already been given an invitation to play again next year

Picture
As well as our own sets we also played backing group for the Busking Vicars

18th May 2013 - Worcester Motor Festival.

Picture
For the third year running and back by popular request - WUC in full flow entertaining the crowds in Worcester High Street as part of the Motor Festival

Hi Gary,
I just wanted to send you and the Worcester Ukulele Club a quick email to thank you for your great contribution to the Worcester Motor Festival last weekend. You created such a great atmosphere and people were watching and listening to you with a smile on their faces. It has once again been a pleasure to work with you!

Best wishes
Nadja

18th May 2013 - Kempsey Primary School

Picture
Second performance of the day. We were asked by Simon Smart of the PTFA to play at the school May Fayre. Not only did we do our own set but we also provided backing music for some of the children singing a lively version of "I Wanna Be Like you"

28 April 2013

At the Knapp and Papermill for Bluebell Sunday performing for Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.

30 November to 2 December 2012

Picture
A bit of a busy weekend with 3 outdoor performances at Worcester Christmas Fayre (managing to collect £256 for St Richard's Hospice in the process) and a Saturday night performance as guests of Kidderminster Ukulele Club.

Picture
Outside the Guildhall on Worcester High Street - pity the tent wasn't heated!

At Kidderminster - an opportunity to play without 6 layers of clothes and silly hats

With Gloucester Strings: Ukes n Friends - 24 November 2012

Picture

Worcester Uke club during our solo spot

We were asked by Terry and Mike at Gloucester Strings to play at their Ukes 'n' Friends charity evening - Thus began a trip down the M5 in some of the worst weather of the year to join over 100 uke players and their families and friends in Hucclecotes. It was well worth it.

Tudor House Jubilee Jamboree - 29 June 2012

Tudor House
It had to happen  - (not too) forced into playing some George Formby in public - John, Bill, Colin and Liz with their "little ukuleles in their hands"

Hi John
Please thank all the "guys" on behalf of Tudor House for a great performance on Friday. You did make a lot of noise, but combine that with energy and enthusiasm and we had ourselves a show.
Everyone went out with a song in their heart and a big smile, who could ask for more!
Kind regards
Judy

Cradley Village Fete and Jubilee Celebrations - 4th June 2012

Cradley
In full swing for our second set on the village green at Cradley on the only rain free day of the Jubilee weekend.

Note the crowd control barrier thoughtfully provided by the organisers - fortunately it wasn't needed.

VE Celebrations,  The Commandery, Worcester - 7th May 2012

Picture
3 sets of pre-1945 songs in keeping with the spirit of the event.

What a fantastic place to play  - the Minstrals Gallery in The Commandery

Altogether now - "We'll meet again.............."

Hi Justin
Just to say a massive thank you to you and the Worcester Ukulele Club for today! You guys were great and went down a storm and created the perfect 40s atmosphere. Overheard lots of people saying how much they were enjoying it.

Hope you enjoyed playing there and thanks again!

Worcester Motor Festival - 28th April 2012

Picture
What a difference to last year (see bottom of page) not only was it 6 deg C but we had the bells of St Swithuns and a dog who though it was a judge for Britain's Got Talent to contend with.

Despite that, we did enjoy ourselves and if you were one of the many who stopped to listen to us in those conditions then Thank You.

Hanley Swan Village Hall - 1st April 2012

The Lamb and Flag - 18th Sept 2011

Lamb and Flag
From the left, Dan, Lorry, Gary, Patrick, David, Colin, Chris, Wilf and Tom posing during a rare dry spell after performing at the Lamb and Flag.

We know that during the performance there were murmurs of "put up against a wall and shot" but we're not sure if this is what was meant.
