26/05/24 Phil and Friends definately do Not Fade Away!

12/05/24 Elaine and Geoff's Luke E Bouquet Send Off

Many thanks to everyone who came tonight for a night led by Luke E Bouquet. We managed to come up with a great, eclectic mix of songs, which we got through without any major car crashes or shipwrecks: - just one or two minor prangs!  It was great to see Geoff and Elaine there for their last appearance at a WUC night before moving back oop North for good - and they take with them 2 real bouquets - a very relevant first for the Luke E Bouquet night.

Farewell to you Elaine and Geoff... you'll be missed, and we wish you all the best for the future.

27/01/24 Burns Night

06/01/24 First Open Mic of the year

A great 'Lucky Dip' clubnight with some car crashes and some gems along the way. At half time John gave us a great rendition of a lovely song - The Architect by Kacey Musgraves

21/10/24 Rockin 'an Rollin

Many thanks to Anne, Nick and their little helpers for providing a magnificent menu of Rock 'n' Roll classics, which perfectly complemented the Mods night last Monday.  There was one potential flashpoint when Mods Helen and Sue went to join Rockers Anne and Nick in  the corner to present their new songs from last week, but I'm relieved to say that the moment passed peacefully... Trevor

14/10/24 Has Anyone Seen Boris The Spider?

Pesky arachnids!

09/09/24 SAS Night

The SAS can cope with anything can't they?

49 squaddies turned up tonight in Ship Shape Condition, Ready for Action, to play and sing with gusto and we were Real Troopers, who followed orders (well within reason) from three bossy women who barked commands of, “By the right….  Qui…ick….STRUM!  STRUM 2 3 4  STRUM 2 3 4”.  Many thanks to Shirley, Anne and Shell

18/03/24 A Great Night T'Be Sure

Another super themed evening at WUC - Irish night, celebrating St Patrick's day and brilliantly led by 3 lovely Leprechauns - Gabi, Jane and Dave. Lots of super songs and some Irish dancing helped to create a warm, friendly, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.

04/02/24 Merry Xmas!

The WUC Party 2024.... lots of fun, games, music, food and fundraising. The raffle, tombola and CD sale raised £394.87 for our new charity, Spectrum Days.
A good time was had by all at the WUC party on Sunday. here we are being entertained by the Party Band, led by John Hi.
A daft game called Bird Calls......... can you recognise your partner by the noise (bird call!!) that they're making?????

04/07/23 Giggers Songbook Night

To all of you who came to 'Giggers Songbook Night' a big thank you for making the evening go with a swing. Hero of the night must be Trevor who steered us all brilliantly from the Worcester room to Cotswold and beyond when our usual venue was unexpectedly set up as an examination hall. And who knew that once in the Cotswold a fully rigged pirate ship would burst through the double doors manned by our very own 'Pirates of the River Severn'  aka John Hi and Allan in full swashbuckling kit.  What a magnificent way to promote their upcoming gig on Saturday....... a few places available if you want some fun. Captain Corder is your man to contact. Lastly,  in case I missed anyone out my thanks are also due to John B for his excellent open mic,  John M. for sharing the presentation spot with me and Peter B our esteemed treasurer who gave us the uplifting news that the Acorns Children's Hospice charity have already got in excess of  £9,000 coming their way .........   and the gigging goes on. Keep on strummin'.

20/02/23 Put a Little Love in your Heart

20/02/23 Bobby's Girl

13/02/23 Long haired lover from Worcestershire

The real hi-light of the evening was a very special Open Mic, by that multi-talented duo, Les & Martin, who treated us to 'Long Haired Lover from Worcestershire'! Who needs Little Jimmy Osmond, when we've got Luscious Les & Magnificent Martin to serenade all the WUC ladies?!

05/02/23 Merry Christmas!

Thanks for all the lovely emails, messages & comments about yesterday's party.  Although it was a lot of work to plan it, I can honestly say that it's been an absolute pleasure, when everyone looked like they were having such a good time.  Wuccies, family & friends certainly know how to party! There are many people who helped to make the party such a success.  So here I go - Thanks you to:

  • Ann C, Maureen & Sue T, who did a super job of setting out & organising the buffet
  • Yvonne, Joan & Barb for the brilliant raffle, tombola & table games
  • Ken for his circle game
  • John Hi for the Party Band & other music
  • Jane & Dave S for leading the line dancing
  • Wendy (Phil's wife) for taking loads of photos / videos
  • All the Party Band members
  • AND last but definitely not least,  Cheap Frills & Band Age for brilliant Open Mics

Thanks again for making the party go with a swing!

Best wishes
Jean

7/11/22 Trevor's Pick Tutorial

Picture
Huge thanks to Trevor for his insights and tuition and patience to help us all do something a bit different! He certainly gave a new twist to the words Strum and Pick when they are in the same sentence. The preparation took hours and it was all over in a flash! Visit the Tech Tens section of the Club Resources page, or click the link on the left to see the excellent powerpoint presentation for yourself :-)

22/10/22 Another Great Club Night

No, you weren’t hallucinating. Monday night really happened! Many thanks to Phil and all his helpers for a very enjoyable evening. A successful set of songs accompanied by complete mayhem does not come about without a lot of preparation.

Rob and Lorry had fun leading a mellow 'blast from the past / acoustic only' evening.

4/4/22 Bring One Sing One

Judging from the photos it looks like the guys and gals had fun tonight - bringing and singing an Open Mic song, then leading a song to all present.

28/2/22 St David's Welsh Night

Hello everyone, Rob and I would like to thank all of you who came out on a miserable night tonight  to celebrate St David’s Day at WUC!  And a special thank you to those of you that also dressed up in red with daffodils and leeks and dragons.  It was much appreciated. There was a great atmosphere and it was good to have you all chipping in with comments.  Always a good sign.

Rob  and Eirlys

1/11/21 Halloween Mayhem

Scary happenings at Uke club tonight... with the song-set including Halloween Epics like 'Dig My Grave', 'The Addams Family', 'Ghost Chickens In The Sky', 'Spooky Scary Skeletons' and 'Has Anybody Seen My Ghoul' - which includes classic lines such as:
"Now, if you run into a six foot nine covered in slime
Scream and yell. Run like hell"!!!

...wise words - especially if you look at the rather unsavoury attendee picky below!

13/9/21 Joyce and her Librarians

Hilarious......... Joyce & her Librarians entertaining the Wuccies with their Open Mic, at the second live clubnight......
Hello, I would like to say thank you to everyone who put so much effort into a most enjoyable evening yesterday. I would go as far as saying it was the one of the best evening sessions I have had with Worcester Ukulele Club. Joyce the Librarian had me in stitches, well done all three. The song choices were excellent, and the leaders brilliant as usual. Thanks once again Regards Rick
Hi Everyone, Many thanks to Colin, Geoff and John together with their talented assistants for a wonderful evening of music. A great choice of songs together with fabulous singing voices and instrumental sound quality. For me, a really uplifting evening!! Kathryn
Thanks for the opportunity to see what it looks like from the front last night. Your idea of involving some of us (including four ukuladiens!) Made for a great night - it was a fun atmosphere and the best club night I’ve ever experienced. You leaders are such a talented team and it’s a privilege to belong to such a club that offers so much at all levels. Personally I have grown in confidence and my playing has improved enormously through all the opportunities offered.
