14/04/24 Didn't They Do Well!
Hi all, A massive 'Thank you' to all the Wuccies who turned out to help with the Absolute Beginners Workshop this morning. It was only ten or so days ago that there were just 6 people signed up the for Workshop, and I was wondering about whether we should possibly cancel it, but then we got our slot on Radio Wyvern, and a piece in the Worcester Evening News, and then a slot on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester - all thanks to Bev - and all 20 places were filled, with the last one going on the evening of Friday 12th! We were quorate!
This particular workshop took place in the Hines Building, which had the advantage of being an ideal size for the number (40 of us in total), but the disadvantage of the screen being a bit low down, making it harder for those at the back to see. However, with the help of other screens in the room, we ploughed on, and I must say that I thought it was a really positive and successful workshop. We kicked off, as usual, with the Wuccies doing a performance of Teenager In Love - just to prove our credentials - and then, when I told all the newbies that the aim was for them to perform a song for us at the end of the two hours, they just laughed incredulously! However, the session was brought to a lovely end with the newbies playing us out with the last chorus of Blowing In The Wind, brilliantly closing the circle! I think we had the Gifted & Talented class today! They took 2-chord, 3-chord and 4-chord songs completely in their stride!
Thank you to Steve from Music City who came along with a range of ukuleles and other goodies for people to peruse and possibly purchase. But, once again, many thanks to the newbies who came along for their interest and enthusiasm and to the Wuccies for their guidance and support. We hope to see a good number of the newbies coming along to Monday Club Nights. Cheers Trevor
