14/12/21 Merry Xmas from ARUK
14/12/21 WUC Official Club Hero!
Hi all, for those of you who weren't at the club last night.....
Colin the younger was hauled up to the front to be informed that UKE (the UK's ukulele magazine) contained an article about him in the section "Ukulele Club Heroes". Basically, it described Colin's efforts with the zoom sessions during the pandemic and also all the other work he does for the club. Colin was presented with a copy of the magazine. Trev was also mentioned in the nicely crafted article written by Steve V. BTW. UKE is a very nicely produced and interesting mag. Here's the link if you want to try it out.

19/11/21 Children In Need - Crowngate Shopping Centre
There's excellent news from Rosemary about WUC's grand total from Friday's 2021 Children In Need Uke-athon, which was held in Bell Square, in the Crowngate Shopping Centre. After 4.5 hours of strumming and singing, plus the proceeds from the Just Giving page, WUC managed to raise the grand sum of £1,919. We couldn't have done it without Rosemary's great enthusiasm for the Children In Need charity and Pudsey's amazing support and dance moves!! Rosemary thanks everybody who contributed their time and money to making it such a successful, worthwhile annual event for the Wuccies.

01/09/21 Letter of Thanks From ARUK
Hi All, We have received the email message below from Penny D, Regional Fundraising Officer for ARUK, thanking us for our recent donation and for the total amount of donations we at WUC have made so far this calendar year. The donations have come from gig fees, from bucket collections at gigs, from weekly subs from people attending Pub Gardens and Frilly Lilly and from payments made in lieu of subs by members 'attending' the virtual Zoom sessions. It's a great achievement in testing times! Well done, Wuccies! Cheers Trevor
21/05/21 The First Gathering of WUCCIES in a Year!
Hi all you who braved the vile weather to play at the Bell today. Fortunately the proprietor saw that the marquee without sides might just be too windswept to be compatible with survival and she put us in an open air part of the pub with a roof. This sheltered us from the worst of the storm. Those closest to the great outdoors donned sou'westers etc. and managed to stay reasonably dry.
Thanks very much to Colin for leading and putting the song pack together.
In the end, we had 18 members and raised £36. We gave £15 to the pub for which they were very grateful and the £21 will go to ARUK. In addition, the golfing arm of the club in the form of Brian Charles, finally managed to have the long awaited game of golf on Upper Sapey Golf course (for which the club had been given a voucher -long story). This generated a further £40 for ARUK.
Best wishes, Allan.

16/02/21 Goodbye to Lyn... Happy Memories
Today has been a particularly sad day for all Wuccies. It was the funeral of one our longest serving club members - Lyn.
Covid restrictions meant that very few people could attend the actual ceremony but a group of Wuccies managed to show their last respects, in a way that Lyn would have liked. As the funeral cortege passed through Callow End, they stood by the roadside & sang the song, 'I'll Fly Away', which Lyn used to often conduct, to make sure we all held the final note & finished at the same time!
The photos below include one of Lyn with a group of Wuccies at one of our last club nights before lockdown. As usual, Lyn played an integral role in the evening.
R.I.P. Lyn, the Wuccies will miss you.
If you would like to make a charitable donation, Lyn expressed a preference for the following:

If donating, please tell your Social Media contacts to give as much publicity as possible to the fundraising campaign. Thank you.
