17/12/18 Parkinson's Charity Presentation
The Wuccies have already raised more than £1,000 for their 2018-19 charity, Worcester and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK, over a weekend of gigs, including five at the city’s Victorian Christmas Fayre.
This fantastic total was the first of 12 months of fund-raising gigs WUC will hold to help the local branch of Parkinson’s UK. This exciting news was revealed last night at the Hive, where the club was holding its weekly meeting, which was attended by Andrew Phillips, chairman of Worcester and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK.
The exact total was an astounding £1,127 – the Victorian Fayre gigs' collection being added to by another one played at The Firs, Elgar’s Birthplace, over the same weekend.

10/12/18 Headway Worcestershire Charity Presentation
Last night, at the Hive, Allan handed over a cheque for £6,805.64 to Kathryn Davis, chief executive of Headway Worcestershire.

This money is the amazing result of 105 gigs performed by the Wuccies over the past 12 months. It brings the total of cash raised for different charities by WUC to an astonishing £32,377.00 since 2012/13.
Allan praised the Wuccies for their commitment and enthusiasm. The 105 gigs ranged from playing at residential homes, fetes and birthday parties to the Victorian Christmas Fair, at music festivals and in parks. On occasions there were two or three bookings in one day and players had gone from one to another.
Mrs Davis gave a “huge thank you” to all the players who had helped raise the money and said Headway was “very grateful”.
She said the funding would cover increased hours for their counsellor to provide support and guidance to clients during recovery. It would also give money to provide activities such as day trips; go towards buying furniture for their Worcester Day Activity Centre, help with music sessions and buy arts equipment.
WUC members have already voted and selected the charity for the next 12 months – Worcester and District Branch of Parkinson’s UK.

1/10/18 Ukulele Workshop no. 2 Sun November 18, Worcester Hive
After a very successful Uke Workshop in October, WUC is running another in November! See the flyer below for details.
7/10/18 Ukulele Workshop, Worcester Hive
Wow! What a day it’s been. Many, many thanks to the Wuccies who gave their Sunday morning to help at the Beginners’ Workshop today. The full house of 20 novices did really well under the caring wings of our members, and I am sure we will get a few ‘newbies’ turning up on Monday, judging from the positive comments we got at the end of the session. Many thanks, also, to those kind members who loaned ukes, which were much appreciated.
Then, this afternoon, the score was Worcester 52:7 Bristol! Can life get any better?

11/2/18 WUC Xmas Party Better Late Than Never!
Hi everyone. Well, the Christmas Party was worth waiting for. There was even a tiny bit of snow....enough to mark the occasion but not enough to stop the party this time. Huge thanks to Jean for overall organisation and to Jean and Stacey for the tasty food. Thanks to all the following: Bev, Diane and Chris (raffle), Rosemary and Anne (mixing game), John H and the party band, Tony and Jane (Uke bingo), Dave and Jane S (Leading the Ceilidh Dances) and Eirlys (leading sing song). Altogether a very enjoyable afternoon in an excellent venue. I suspect that there will be a lot of support for a repeat next year. Best wishes, Allan.

Hi Everyone, I agree with Allan, it was a great party and I had a good time. Thanks to all those involved in organising the venue, food, music, dancing and entertainment. FYI, as I was last to leave I had some feedback from one of the young bar staff which I pass on:
"We enjoyed the music, you're really good. It was very different to the sort of thing that's usually played at Hanger functions".
To have won the unsolicited approval of undergraduate students working part-time in the bar may well count as some kind of ultimate accolade. So we must be doing something right!
Looking forward to the next one. Cheers, Peter G

Should mention that both girls behind the bar were in their third year studying psychology (one of them forensic psychology) so they were probably studying the way old(er) people enjoy themselves. Rob
PS great fun, thanks to all involved
