COMMITTEE SELECTION PROCESS - YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
We’ve had a fantastic 2015, with 52 club nights, 80 gigs, hundreds of songs sung, ever evolving ukulele playing, lots of positive reviews, >100 club members now on the list, and we have a regular club night attendance of about 60… All this, and we have also raised >£8000 for charity! To cap it all, we’ve had a great time doing it all :-)
This wouldn’t have been possible however, without organisation by key club members. Now is the time for us to look ahead to forming a new committee to take us through 2016.
As per section 5 of the club constitution:
… the committee shall be elected annually, can have min 5, and max 7 members. A committee transition schedule is listed below:
Any existing incumbent committee members who wish to continue are also required to submit their names.
The incumbent committee will be very pleased to see lots of nominations - more than 7 is fine. We need organisers and doers, so please submit your name if you want to help and make a difference. In particular, we have had a lady on the committee for the last 2 years and would really like to see this continue, especially as we now have so many lady members.
If you volunteer, you will be expected to commit to certain responsibilities and make an effort. The team shares responsibilities. The organisation of the club and its various activities takes a reasonable amount of time and commitment. However, the reward for committee members is the satisfaction from seeing the club develop and knowing they have helped to make this happen :-)

As per section 5 of the club constitution:
… the committee shall be elected annually, can have min 5, and max 7 members. A committee transition schedule is listed below:
- By Monday January 18th we need volunteers / nominations (to Lorry W). As they come in, nominations will be posted on the club information web page.
- At the beginning of Monday January 25th club meeting, these names will be announced to all present (and emailed to all club members afterwards).
- On Monday February 1st, prior to our normal club meeting, we hold an AGM. If more than 7 people are standing for the committee, each nominee will be allowed to speak for 2 minutes at the AGM as to what benefits they will bring to running the club and why they should be elected. The nominations will then be put to a simple vote.
- The newly elected team will then arrange for the next committee meeting to be held soon afterwards, when they will agree their own terms of reference / job descriptions, and complete any handovers (i.e. bank account, website admin, etc.).
